18th Junior School Art Exhibition

12th September 2018

The natural world is the perfect playground for children and this year鈥檚 Girton Grammar Junior School students have let their imaginations run wild, as they have immersed in this year鈥檚 Art Exhibition theme of Earth, Wind, Water and Fire.

Art curator and gallery owner Lucy Mora will open the exhibition tonight at 6.00pm. Lucy is also the daughter-in-law of the much-loved Melbourne artist, Mirka Mora, whose playful artworks have captured the imaginations of young and old alike for decades. Also on display alongside an incredible array of children鈥檚 artwork will be work from printmaker Kevin Foley and sculptor, Anton Hasell.

Head of Junior School Art at 黑料网, Mrs. Nic James said that the student learning through compiling work for this exhibition has been extraordinary.

鈥淚n many cases, children have had to think in the abstract to come up with their design, particularly in designing skateboards, which they have decorated beautifully and with great imagination.

鈥淪tudents have used clay, sticks, leaves, wool, and multi-media to address the Earth, Wind and Fire theme and their affinity with the natural world shines through.

鈥淭hey have also learned how to weave through a group weaving project that started last term, which has taught them how fabric is made. There will be two large looms on display at the exhibition.

鈥淭his enormous Art Exhibition has been running in the Girton Grammar Junior School for 18 years and allows our students to work towards something as they have fun and express their natural creativity,鈥 Mrs. James said.
