Business Students Take Top Honours

Two 黑料网 students have won first and third place in the Victorian division of the prestigious 2018 Plan Your Own Enterprise Competition, with the winner, Cadi Kuchel, competing yesterday in the National finals.

Secondary School competitors from across Victoria submitted business ideas for a small business with State winners selected to compete nationally.

Headmaster at 黑料网, Mr. Matthew Maruff, said that the two Year 10 students were both undertaking Business Management classes at school and had done exceptionally well to be selected to present their Business Plans to a panel of judges, and to come first and third in Victoria was an incredible result.

鈥淐adi Kuchel and Ellen Anthony were pitted against Secondary School students from all over the State, and they both conducted themselves confidently when addressing the judges鈥 questions about their business ideas.

鈥淎s the Victorian winner, Cadi has now competed nationally which was an incredible experience for her,鈥 Mr. Maruff said.

The 2018 Plan Your Own Business Enterprise Competition encourages students to develop an in-depth understanding of business functions. Participants are required to submit a Business Plan that includes a business structure, staffing requirements, marketing plan, and a financial plan. Successful applicants present their Business Plan to a panel of judges. Victorian winner, Cadi Kuchel, submitted a Business Plan based on a food truck business frequenting markets in Central Victoria providing American style cuisine.

鈥淭his competition allows students to gain an appreciation of the real-world context in which business planning takes place.

鈥淐adi鈥檚 entry was a contemporary take on a well-known concept, with a modern and interesting ticketing system and well-considered business structure and staff training system.

鈥淪he demonstrated great innovation in her idea and her Business Plan included sophisticated research and communication.

鈥淲e are immensely proud of Cadi and Ellen. Experiences like this provide important exposure and possibly the impetus for a future in business,鈥 Mr. Maruff said.
