The Chair of the Girton Grammar Board, Mr David Jemmett, has accepted the resignation of the School鈥檚 long-standing Headmaster Mr Matthew Maruff, after ten years of passionate and dedicated service.
The Girton Chair said that Mr Maruff had been an asset to the school, building on strong educational and co-curricular foundations and helping to shape one of Australia鈥檚 finest regional schools.
鈥淭oday, I advised the school community that our Headmaster will conclude his duties at Girton Grammar at the end of Term 1 in 2020.鈥
鈥淭he timing of Mr Maruff鈥檚 resignation gives the Board ample time to recruit a suitable candidate to the position as Head of Girton Grammar. We will be looking to secure an exceptional leader to continue to implement the strategic vision of the school.鈥
鈥淢uch has been achieved at the School over the last ten years under the current Headmaster鈥檚 leadership, notably, the introduction of the explicit teaching of emotional intelligence using Yale University鈥檚 RULER Approach and a $25 million building program.鈥
鈥淯nder Mr Maruff鈥檚 leadership, the School has enjoyed excellent academic results, and exemplified the Headmaster鈥檚 passion for ensuring that students leave Girton well prepared for whatever comes next as well as a lifelong love of learning and a desire to develop personally.鈥
鈥淭he Board will be engaging expert educational recruitment specialists to ensure we make the best possible appointment for our wonderful school.鈥
