A large donation of non-perishable food along with money raised from a lunchtime barbeque were today donated by 黑料网 to Bendigo Foodshare, a not-for-profit organisation that sources and donates food to relief agencies and schools.
Headmaster at 黑料网, Mr Matthew Maruff, said that Community Service is highly valued and strongly encouraged at the school.
鈥淥ur students are active in a number of ways in supporting those in the community less fortunate than themselves and Bendigo Foodshare is doing wonderful work in Bendigo and beyond.
鈥淔or weeks, students have been collecting non-perishable food, which is being donated to Bendigo Foodshare, along with money raised from a Winter Solstice barbeque held today.
鈥淏endigo Foodshare sources and distributes around 600,000kg of food to Central Victorians annually and we are pleased to assist in some small way.
鈥淧revious well-being surveys from the Bendigo City Council reveal that 25听per听cent of residents in the City of Greater Bendigo have experienced a food crisis in the past 12 months.
鈥淏endigo Foodshare鈥檚 volunteers and Board are working hard to support those who have very little in our region and every bit of help that they can get makes a difference.
鈥淥ur students are involved in a number of community service initiatives and take great satisfaction in having an impact in their immediate community through groups such as Bendigo Foodshare,鈥 Mr Maruff said.
